7 Simple Home Remedies For Itching

Itching skin can be irritating. The first thing a person does when that itchy sensation gets loud is scratch. Scratching is a temporary relief solution to overcome itching. We tend to spend a significant amount on expensive creams, ointments and gels when we are faced with itch problems. We can get rid of itch by using ingredients that are available in our homes. There are simple home remedies that can relieve you from severe itching.

Itch can be mild or dense depending on what triggered reaction on skin. Itching could be because of an insect bite, allergic reaction, sunburn, or failure to keep body parts clean. 1. Mint Leaves

A quick treatment for itching is applying paste of mint on the infected area. Mint has natural antiseptic properties that provide instant relief from itch. Mint has anti-inflammatory rosemarinic acid which acts as a soother for infected skin. You can add two drops of tea tree oil in the mint paste and apply it on itchy skin. Keep on the thick paste for 10 to 15 minutes and wash off with water. Mint is an excellent home remedy for itching skin and bumpy skin.

2. Lemon and Turmeric Paste

Lemon and Turmeric paste is an effective treatment for different forms of itch. Take two tablespoons of turmeric powder. Add to it a teaspoon of raw milk and a teaspoon of lemon juice to form a paste. Apply this paste on the itchy area and keep it on for 5 to 10 minutes. You will feel a cool sensation that provides relief for itching skin, and soothes inflammation.

3. Oatmeal  body mask

Oatmeal works perfectly well for itching. When you develop symptoms of itchy skin or you feel skin irritation take a cup of oatmeal, the organic uncooked variety and add to it water. Let the oatmeal soak for a while and form a mushy paste. Once you get a paste, rub the paste on the infected area where you feel the itchy sensation. Let the oatmeal body mask remain for a while. After 10 minutes wash the oatmeal mask gently. Oats contain avenanthramides that help reduce inflammation

and skin irritation due to antioxidant activity.

4. Apply Vicks Vapor Rub

For those of you who are of the belief that Vicks Vapo Rub works only for common cold, cough and wheezing, surprise it also works wonders for itching skin. Apply very little Vicks VapoRub or any other generic brand onto itchy skin area and massage gently. Menthol in ointment and creams soothes skin and provides instant relief from itching Avoid using over the counter ointments near the groin area. It also provides instant relief from burning sensation.

5. Rub Aloe Vera leaves

For mild itch snap a leaf of aloe vera plant and rub the gooey gel on infected area. Aloe vera has a soothing effect on itchy skin. You instantaneously feel a cool sensation and get relief from itch. Aloe vera is a medicinal plant that can be used for varied home application. Hence it makes perfect sense to grow aloe vera at home.

6. Apple Cider Vinegar with chickpea powder

Apple cider vinegar, also known as ACV has a range of health benefits. To get relief from itching mix 1 tablespoon of chickpea powder with 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to form a slimy paste. Apply this paste on itchy skin. Leave it for a while (10 minutes) like you leave a facial mask or body mask on and then was gently with splashes of water, you will feel a cool sensation as you wash gently. IF you have itch on your back hands or legs, apple cider vinegar with chickpea powder is perfect. Do not apply this mask on thin skin near sensitive areas, as you may feel a burning sensation. Also, while having a bath you can add little ACV to your bucket of water.

7. Banana peel for itching

Rubbing fruit peel is an excellent home remedy for itching. The best fruit peel to provide relief from itching is banana peel. Keep in mind rubbing banana skin is a temporary solution to itching, it just provides relief for a while, and symptoms may arise again. Banana skin contains enzymes that cool and soothe irritated skin or bumpy skin. This remedy can be used for mosquito bites and rash arising from plants.
